\n500 mg of p-toluene sulfonic acid monohydrate was placed in a 2000 ml flask.
\nUnder vacuum, the acid was heated with a heat gun to dry the glassware and to get rid of the hydrate from p-toluene sulfonic acid.
\nApproximately 750 ml of dimethoxycyclohexane (from TCI America) was added to the acid and a silicon oil bath located beneath the 2000 ml flask was heated up to about 80 -90\u00b0C.
\nThe reaction was carried out overnight under vacuum to pump off<\/span> the generated methanol.<\/strong>
\nOn the second day, the oil bath was raised up to about 110\u00b0C to distill the 1-methoxycyclohexene.
